Case study: Acoustic optimization with Flexpanel during a HiFi audio event

During an exclusive HiFi audio event in the Netherlands, there was one goal in mind: to present high-quality audio equipment as pure and true to nature as possible. The organizer wanted visitors to experience what true sound quality means. This required not only top equipment, but also an acoustically balanced room. For this reason, the decision was made to use Flexpanel acoustic panels.

The event venue proved acoustically challenging. Sound waves reflected off walls and floors, resulting in distracting reverberation and inaccurate sound reproduction. This was obviously undesirable at an event where nuance and detail are essential.

Flexpanel's team conducted an acoustic analysis of the space beforehand. Based on that, a plan was developed to address specific reflection points. A combination of wall panels and free-standing Flexpanels were chosen, strategically placed behind speakers, along the side walls and around the listening areas. The modular design allowed the panels to be easily moved and tailored to the arrangement of the various brands and demonstrations.

During the event, the effect was immediately noticeable. Reverberation was significantly reduced and the clarity of the music presentations increased audibly. Both visitors and exhibitors noted that the sound reproduction was more natural and better balanced. The panels contributed to controlled acoustics, in which both the bass and the finest high frequencies came into their own.

In addition to their functional contribution, the panels were also appreciated for their clean, modern look. They blended seamlessly with the premium nature of the event and enhanced the professional atmosphere of the listening rooms.
